Meet our Engineer of Record in the Tampa, FL Office.

We wanted to take a moment to highlight our Tampa, Florida office and their Engineer of Record, Michael Lewis.

Michael has been an essential part of the Fieldstone structural engineering team for many years. He has worked closely with several top residential builders, developed and engineered hundreds of master plans, and has worked on clubhouse/amenity projects with the Fieldstone commercial team.

He has designed many structures in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and North Dakota. He is very experienced in foundation, truss, wood, CMU, steel and concrete design.

Michael graduated in 2012 with his Masters of Science in Civil/Structural Engineering. During his time in graduate school, Mike worked as an intern at Barkley Consulting Engineering Inc. In his internship, he received the opportunity to work on several highly specialized projects. Among them were steel frame buildings up to 6 stories in height, mobilized platform parking garages, steel frame modular condominium buildings and several complex structures that required finite element analysis. He also has experience with cantilever retaining walls, cold formed steel design, sheet pile design and a wide range of foundations types.

Michael has a very strong working knowledge of finite element analysis in many applications. He utilized the program ANSYS to create a solid model of a bridge for validation of his thesis, “Effects of Secondary Elements and Joints on Strain Distribution in Composite Steel Girder Bridges,” which was published in ProQuest. He is fluent in other programs such as RISA 3D, RAM Elements, Sapphire, Building Works, Forte, Mathcad, and AutoCAD and many more for various disciplines.

If you have a project you would like to discuss, give Michael a call at (813) 466-3310 and he'll be happy to help!
