A new business headquarters celebrated a completed renovation recently, with a ribbon cutting ceremony in Rochester, Michigan.
OneStream Software, a software developer that makes programs for business financial management nationally and globally, held a ribbon cutting on October 9, 2015 to show the world their completed renovation which was designed by Fieldstone Architecture and Engineering.
“We’ve been very pleased to work with the city staff and local contractors to see this project come to fruition,” says Tom Shea, president of OneStream Software. “Within our new headquarters we’ve been able to create a work environment that inspires collaboration and enables us to grow our business in a specific direction. We are excited to be located in the heart of Michigan and look forward to maintaining a positive community presence.” - from Rochester Chamber of Commerce Interview The Rochester Chamber of Commerce, local dignitaries, community vendors, OneStream employees, Fieldstone staff and CEO, and customers attended the ceremonial cutting of the ribbon. Following the ceremony, a reception catered by downtown favorite, Penny Black, was held onsite with music, champagne to make a toast and personalized office tours. Work began on converting the outdated warehouse to the current state-of-the-art 22,000 sf facility in early fall 2014. The new headquarters, designed by Fieldstone Architecture and Engineering LLC, features an open-concept floor plan with a range of workspaces for both collaborative and private meetings. The lower level features a French Bistro Cafe and also a Coffee Bar complete with a street scene of iron work fencing and street lamps in the interior space. The new space also houses a basketball court, loft lounge and employee gym.
The original concept sketched shown below, illustrates the idea for the "cafe within the warehouse" which was intended to welcome their clients who come from Europe as well as some of their global staff.

The final space shown below in the photo really illustrates the magic of creating a streetscape inside a large warehouse. The breakdown of scale and suggested change of context make the workplace innovative and full of options for their employees to meet and collaborate in. The thinking ''outside of the box'' really helped the Fieldstone A&E design team find a solution for fitting so many programmatic needs ''inside the box."

The final design breaks the open warehouse space into many different masses of working space. There is an open basketball court that the owner requested during the programming meetings during the schematic design phase, so he could work off stress while still at work.
Adjacent to the basketball court are the flexible meeting and breakout spaces of the enhanced interior streetscape. The streetscape includes the French ''BonBons Bistro'' storefront, the ''Beans and Brews'' coffee area and an upper loft that looks over the basketball court that allows the team to project large presentations on the opposing wall of the basketball court.
Beyond the loft areas and behind a simple entry door, are the working office areas, reception area and computer training lab. The reception area took its color palette cue from the OneStream logo and is done in bright orange, blue and whites to emphasize the consistent branding of their business.
A custom reception desk was designed to fit the space perfectly by curving perpendicular to the main entry door and leading the visitor to the waiting area to the right. The woodwork and logo over the desk along with custom light fixtures also in the OneStream color theme were all drawn, designed, drafted and planned by Fieldstone Architecture and Engineering.

The work areas range from traditional cubicle areas, to private offices to open areas. The private offices are enclosed in glass with an etched design to allow for just enough privacy without feeling enclosed. The glass etching designs vary throughout the headquarters and have the OneStream logo, a motivating tagline or a pattern from the logo included, to create a consistent look through the entire headquarters. Even the carpet and handrails utilize the OneStream logo color theme and add small doses of bright accent color, hence adding interest to the space.

The project and new business has recieved a great amount of press due to the owner's innovative ideas, worker friendly environment and the fast growth of the start-up.
