Fieldstone A&E New Michigan Office - A Photographic Editorial

Fieldstone Architecture and Engineering's Michigan office was photographed by renowned architectural photographer Laszlo Regos for use in future press releases, articles and commercial project portfolio. The photos taken over several days under a variety of lighting conditions beautifully illustrate the design features of the new work space for the Fieldstone A&E staff.

"We strove to have our office stand as an example of our design work, and to also create a modern, yet employee-friendly space," explained Vice President of Commercial, architect and Michigan office designer, Bruce Kopytek. Bruce and his Fieldstone A&E team drafted the early conceptual sketches of the office after studying various documents promoting an "office of the future" as collaborative, flexible, and above all, comfortable and welcoming space.

The design, which occupies 11,000 square feet on the second floor of the Ashford Commons building at 3400 Auburn Road is unmistakably modern and sleek. Its disarmingly neutral color palette combines dark, espresso-stained wood surfaces with granite and polished metal accents in conjunction with touches of Fieldstone’s corporate blue color to create a warm, invigorating environment.

Interplays on transparency repeat throughout the lobby and the board room where visual connection and spatial hierarchy have replaced the claustrophobic rooms and corridors left by the former tenant. Promoting the idea that Fieldstone’s work supports the creative arts, custom abstract artworks were selected and purchased to enhance and accessorize each space and give character to the office environment.

The lobby leads from a prow-like, custom-designed granite and wood reception desk carefully integrated with a brushed metal-clad round column, down corridors of offices toward a multi-purpose space that hosts many staff events and receptions.

The lounge area was designed to serve as a collaborative hub for team-building activities, and the community table is used regularly for short design critiques and coffee breaks over floor plans sketched on tracing paper. The ceiling over the area’s entrances on both sides undulates with an indirectly-lit organic curve to draw people into the space and differentiate it from the grid-like layout of offices and cubicles elsewhere on the floor.

Fieldstone A&E’s branding tagline of “design is our passion, collaboration is our method” is clearly reflected in the interior design.

Architect Bruce Kopytek was able to form highly effective relationships in the furnishing of the space. Bruce’s selection of Kimball Office Furniture brought along the talents of local office-furniture dealer Financial Furnishings, Inc. and its preferred installer, Built-Rite Services, Inc. The furnishing concept that includes leather couches and end tables for the lobby, white leather chairs for the board rooms, and modular workspace configurations for all work areas ranging from open and private offices to collaboration spaces presents Fieldstone as design-conscious and state-of-the-art provider of architecture, engineering, interior design and construction services.
